Stephanie L. Van Meter
Stephanie L. Van Meter graduated with her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in Oklahoma in 1999. While there, Stephanie earned the prestigious honor of being selected as the Senior Articles Editor for Tulsa's Law Journal. She also served on their National Trial Competition team and was awarded membership in Phi Delta Phi and the Dean's Honor Roll. She was the recipient of the CALI Excellence award, which is given for excellence in legal reasoning and writing. In addition to her academic studies and activities during law school, Ms. Van Meter also volunteered in the Court Advocacy Office of Domestic Violence Intervention Services. Ms. Van Meter also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Oklahoma State University. While pursuing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Van Meter served as a Senator in the university's student government.
Prior to joining the Thomas & Company law firm, Ms. Van Meter served several years in Ohio's Attorney General's Office. While with the AG's Office, she attained the level of Assistant Chief Attorney General in the Education section responsible for representing the Ohio Department of Education, advising Ohio's public colleges and universities in various legal matters, as well as, supervising approximately ten (10) other attorneys. She also worked in the AG's Workers' Compensation section and was responsible for representing the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation in litigation matters for ten (10) Ohio counties.
In addition to her governmental/public law experience, Ms. Van Meter also has extensive experience in the private/corporate sector. She has consulted with numerous Fortune 500 companies in various labor and employment law areas. Further, she managed the Workers' Compensation program for all of California for one of the United States' largest retailers.
Ms. Van Meter enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is also involved in her community through her church where she serves in Women’s Ministries and various other programs and activities.
Ms. Van Meter is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Oklahoma, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She resides with her husband and two children in Dublin, Ohio.
